During Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC), held between 5-8 March 2023, Rwanda’s Health Minister Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana urged Kenya to allow teens to access contraceptives as Africa works towards building resilient health systems.
This came after Africa REACH Leadership Council Member and Nation Media journalist, Mr. Leon Lidigu posed questions to the Rwandan Health Minister at the African Union Summit which coincided with the Africa REACH Launch in Addis Ababa in February 2023. Mr. Lidigu focused on access to contraceptives for teenagers amid rising HIV infections that the government now puts at 42%.
