On 17th October, 2023, the Latkings Advocacy Team visited Chipata Level One Hospital and met with local adolescents to discuss and learn about the challenges young people face in accessing vital services, particularly in light of the increasing non-adherence to ARVs among adolescents.

Their visit is one the district tours which they have embarked on with a view to establish a functional local youth advocacy network. The team hopes to create an online interaction platform and calendar to sustain online communication and advocacy amongst adolescents.

Their visit showcases the team’s commitment to bridging gaps and supporting the youth in their struggle with HIV and reproductive health services. The impact of this initiative is already evident in increased awareness and hope among the adolescents they engaged with. The Latkings Advocacy Team is dedicated to making a positive change and improving the lives of those living with HIV. The resounding desire of young people is to be heard and seen. They yearn for improved services and are unwavering in their commitment to hold policymakers and stakeholders accountable.

With funds from Africa REACH, the advocates are at the forefront of ensuring that their voices are not just heard but actively listened to. Through their series of knowledge exchange visits, like the impactful gathering held last Tuesday at Chipata Level One Hospital, they’re paving the way for change and empowerment.
